Mr. Darbra has a rich 10 year background in teaching and holds currently 3 Master's Degrees, one Postgraduate degree and a Bachelor's Degree. Furthermore he has a keen interest in contemporary music and live electronics.

Master’s Degree in Classical and Contemporary Performance from Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen, Belgium. Studied with Aldo Baerten.

Master’s Degree in Live Electronics from Conservatorium van Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Studied with Jos Zwaanenburg, Jorge Isaac, Hidde de Jong and Frank Baldé.

Master’s Degree in Contemporary Performance from Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Studied with Ensemble Modern.

Postgraduate’s Degree in Orchestral Performance from Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Italy. Studied with Andrea Oliva.

Bachelor’s Degree in Classical and Contemporary Performance from Fundació Conservatori Liceu, Spain. Studied with Júlia Gàllego.

JAUME DARBRA'S BIO:

Jaume Darbra is a multidisciplinary and independent artist based in Frankfurt, working at the juncture of sound and visual. He combines visual art, music composition, and physical approach of sound art by performing in advanced programmed installations and audio/visual live compositions.

As a freelance flutist and electroacoustic performer, Jaume is active internationally in the field of Contemporary Music performing in the most important venues, festival and institutions such as, WienModern, November Music, Lucerne Festival, Musikfest Berlin, IRCAM, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, and in the field of Classical Music performing in Berliner Philarmonie, Cité de la Musique, KKL Luzern, Koningin Elisabethzaal, Het Concertgebouw, among others.

Besides from collaborating with renewed orchestras he is also dedicated to contemporary music, he has work closely with composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Rebecca Saunders, Unsuk Chin and Kaija Saariaho and performs regularly with several contemporary music ensembles, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Lucerne Festival ALUMNI, to name but a few.
